Chiropractic: This is a method of effective human
medical care that focuses on maintaining the health of the spinal column. By
adjusting the spinal column a chiropractor treats the nervous system and the
body's natural defense mechanisms, thus improving overall health.
A complex network of nerves extends from the brain to all parts
of the body, including muscles, bones, glands and organs. The spinal column is
composed of 24 vertebrae. The spinal nerves pass through the spinal column and
select vertebrae areas to each organ.
In the event of subluxation (movement of the vertebrae) the
nerves can become compressed or crushed. In terms of the nervous system, the
function of the involved organs will be impeded by this interference caused by
the subluxation of the associated nerves. Left uncorrected it can lead to acute
distress or failure of the organ to function. When the vertebrae are correctly
aligned again, there is no nerve interference and electrical impulses from the
brain can travel freely, reaching the organs through the spinal column and thus
greatly improving also the immune defense system.
Therefore it is critically important that the integrity and
alignment of the spinal column be maintained as a foundational element of good
health. |
