Acupuncture: Acupuncture is a method of encouraging the body to promote natural healing and improve function. This is done by inserting sterilized, stainless-steel needles (that are as fine as a human hair) into specific points located near or on the surface of the skin which have the ability to alter various biochemical and physiological conditions in order to treat a wide variety of illnesses.

Acupuncture points are areas of designated electrical sensitivity that have been shown to be effective in the treatment of specific health problems. They have been mapped out by the Chinese over a period of over 2000 years.

The basic premise for Oriental medicine is that there is a "life-force" or life energy flowing through the body which is termed Qi (pronounced chee). This energy flows through the body on channels known as meridians that connect all of our major organs. According to Chinese medical theory, illness arises when the cyclical flow of Qi in the meridians becomes unbalanced or is blocked.

Amplified Energy Therapy: Form of energy healing promoted by Richard Gordon. It's believed that people can learn to maneuver their "bio-energy" or "life-force energy" toward following the body's "innate intelligence." It is also know as "Vibrational Medicine"

Aura: The vitality or the energy of life is present everywhere around the human body with a variable intensity. This is usually called the aura. It is similar in concept to the invisible electromagnetic fields generated by the flow of electricity through transmissions systems. Note that our body produces static electricity and by touching grounded objects we discharge it naturally. This electricity is believed by many to actually be a part of our "bio-energy". The electical energy field created by the body's electical energy is commonly referenced as the aura.

Biocompatible, Biocompatibility: The terms biocompatible and biocompatibility are frequently used to defined the biological acceptability of elements to various living organisums. These elements may occur naturally within the environment or may be elements produced by man.

In terms of useage at this website the utilization of biocompatible or biocompatibility will be more focused and related to the impact of various elements upon the bio-energies of the human body.

Bio-Energy: Two utilizations of this term are commonly used.

The first references the use of biomass (organic matter) that can be used to provide heat, make fuels, and generate electricity. This is called "bio-energy".

The second reference is its use by holistic and other alternative health care practitioners in relation to the human body's God given energy field or energy field exhibited by other living organisums. It is also referred to as "life-force". It is the definition that applies at this website.

Bruxism This is a clenching of the teeth, associated with forceful jaw movements, resulting in rubbing, gritting, or grinding together of the teeth. It is common in persons with disabilities. Bruxism usually occurs at night during sleep, but can take place throughout the day.

Bruxism (teeth grinding) occurs in about 15% of people. The teeth are ground together or the jaw clenched tightly during sleep. It can be mild and occasional or it can become so frequent and/or violent that the teeth are damaged. This habit, continued consciously or unconsciously over a period of time, can result in tooth abrasion and loss of tooth structure.

In permanent teeth, bruxism can lead to peridodontal disease (bone loss) and/or jaw joint disorder (headaches, facial and ear pain, etc.) Bruxism can be diagnosed at a routine dental visit.

Chakras: Chakras are the primary centers of electromagnetic energy in the body. These are the main power points on the body that relate to the Chinese healing art of acupuncture. Many ancient cultures knew of these power points. Each power point has a particular function corresponding to the mind and body.

When the power points become blocked, damaged or muddied with the residual energy then our emotional and physical health can be affected. The more open and balanced the chakras are the more energy flows through your system. This energy is essential for vitality, health and continued growth on all levels.

Chiropractic: This is a method of effective human medical care that focuses on maintaining the health of the spinal column. By adjusting the spinal column a chiropractor treats the nervous system and the body's natural defense mechanisms, thus improving overall health.

A complex network of nerves extends from the brain to all parts of the body, including muscles, bones, glands and organs. The spinal column, composed of 24 vertebrae. The spinal nerves pass through the spinal column and select vertebrae areas to each organ.

In the event of subluxation (movement of the vertebrae) the nerves can become compressed or crushed. In terms of the nervous system, the function of the involved organs will be impeded by this interference caused by the subluxation of the associated nerves. Left uncorrected it can lead to acute distress or failure of the organ to function.

Electro Dermal Screening: This is a sophisticated health screening process utilizing the latest 21st century computer technology and acupuncture principles. It is capable of performing comprehensive health screening tests.

The equipment works by monitoring a natural energetic reaction within a person being screened. If they are sensitive to, depleted in, toxic with or would benefit from a substance then electrical changes occur within acupuncture points when those substances are placed near them

Holistic Dentistry: Consider carefully the effects that dentistry can have on the whole human body. Holistic dentistry means that whatever is done by dentists on the human body must be in agreement with the functions of that body and must increase that body's energy systems so that the person may function optimally.

Holistic Medicine: 1. Alternative medicine. 2. That form of alternative medicine which focuses on;

  • a) personal accountability for one's health;
  • b) the human body's ability to heal itself; and
  • c) balancing the body, mind, and "spirit" with the environment.

Holistic medicine encompasses acupuncture, biofeedback, faith healing, folk medicine, meditation, megavitamin therapy, and yoga.

Homeopathy (classical): Form of homeopathy that involves extensive questioning of the patient by the practitioner, purportedly to determine the "single remedy" for that patient: the "one therapeutic ideal" that "embraces" mental, emotional, and physical "levels."

Homeopathy (also referenced as homeopathic medicine, homeotherapeutics, homoeopathy): Form of energy medicine (vibrational medicine) developed by German physician Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann (17551843), who coined its original name. The major homeopathic theories include five that Hahnemann either hatched, or embraced and expounded. Click the link above for more information.

Kinesiology: Applied kinesiology is based upon the fact that body language never lies. The opportunity of understanding body language is enhanced by the ability to use muscles as indicators of body language. It is an elaborate system of ostensible diagnosis and treatment whose basis and focus is on muscle testing.

Detroit chiropractor George J. Goodheart, Jr., developed the first application of Kinesiology (the origin and insertion technique) in 1964. He theorized that muscle groups share "energy pathways" with internal organs and that, therefore, every organ dysfunction is discoverable in a related muscle. Testing muscles for relative strength and tone supposedly taps the body's "innate intelligence" and enables practitioners to detect specific dysfunctions. Application of kinesiology encompasses: "clinical nutrition"; Craniosacral Therapy; "dietary management"; homeopathy, including classical homeopathy; meridian therapy, especially acupressure and acupuncture; and reflexology.

Kirlian Photography: Kirlian photography is a technique of photographing the electrical discharge from an object when impressed with a high voltage field. It was discovered by Semyon Kirlian in Russia in 1939.

The Russians have performed scores of experiments on live plants, animals, and humans with the Kirlian effect. Kirov State University of Kazakhstan has studied Kirlian effect with electron micmscope. Supposedly the Kirov scientists saw the "living double" of a living organism in motion. The Russians observed this the high-frequency discharge seerns to imply the existence of an elementary plasma-like constellation made of ionized excited electrons, protons, and perhaps other particles and giving off its own electromagnetic fields and the basis of biological fields.

Also know as corona discharge photography, spark electrography and bio-electrography, it is a newly emerging science of visualizing conscious processes in living objects.

Life Force: This is a term reference that defines the human body's God designed energy force. It is also referred to as "bio-energy". Many alternative health care professional are able to effectively demonstrate the response of the human body's life force to various foods, supplements and materials through muscle testing. The human body's life force can also be an exceptional early diagnostic source for the early detection of a variety of human health issues. (See bio-energy)

Muscle Testing, Muscle Response Testing, MRT Technique: Variety of procedures used with the supposed aim of tapping the body's "innate intelligence" and thereby determining the "bio-energy levels" of "life-forces" that control the body. Muscle testing is a component of every form of kinesiology and a purported means of discovering imbalances within the body.

Neural Therapy: Neural Therapy was originally developed in Germany by the Huneke brothers. It involves the injection of Procaine (also known as Novocain), a common local anesthetic, into various but very specific areas. Neural Therapy is based on the theory that trauma can produce long-standing disturbances in the electrochemical function of tissues. Among the types of tissues affected by trauma include scars, nerves or a cluster of nerves called ganglions. A correctly administered Neural Therapy injection can often instantly and lastingly resolve chronic longstanding illness and chronic pain.

The nerves of your autonomic system provide a vast network of electrical circuits, having a total length of twelve times the circumference of the earth, and connecting every one of your 40 trillion cells to form a living whole human organism. This autonomic (or neurovegetative) system controls the vital processes everywhere in your body.

This office practices a version of neural therapy without the use of injection needles that has proved to be simple and effective. This process has been developed and used successfully over the last 15 years. It involves the topical application of a special Procaine mixture.

Occlusion: It is defined as how your teeth come together when you close your jaw. Your Occlusion is influenced by three primary components: (1) teeth, (2) nerves and muscles, and (3) bones. Another factor, which can affect the way your teeth come together, is your posture.

Vibrational Medicine (also referenced as Energetic Medicine, Energetics Medicine, Energy Medicine, Subtle-Energy Medicine, Vibrational Healing, Vibrational Therapies): "Healing philosophy" whose main "tenet" is that humans are "dynamic energy systems" ("body/mind/spirit" complexes) and what some believe reflect "evolutionary patterns" of "soul growth."

Vibrational medicine embraces acupuncture, aromatherapy, Bach flower therapy, "chakra rebalancing," channeling, color breathing, color therapy, crystal healing, absent healing, Electroacupuncture According to Voll (EAV), etheric touch, flower essence therapy, homeopathy, Kirlian photography, laserpuncture, the laying on of hands, meridian therapy, mesmerism, moxibustion, orthomolecular medicine, Past-life Regression, Polarity Therapy, psychic healing, psychic surgery, radionics, the Simonton method, sonopuncture, Toning, Transcendental Meditation, and Therapeutic Touch. The expressions "energy healing," "energy work," and "energetic healing work" appear synonymous with "vibrational medicine.

Zone therapy (Reflex Zone Therapy, Reflex Zone Massage): Early form of Western reflexology introduced in the United States in 1913 by William H. Fitzgerald, M.D., a specialist in diseases of the ear, nose, and throat. Fitzgerald, author of Zone Therapy, or Relieving Pain at Home (1917), divided human anatomy into ten zones and professed that "bio-electrical" energy flowed through these zones to "reflex points" in the hands and feet. His method, which was also called "zonotherapy," included the fastening of wire springs around toes. Fitzgerald's associate, Edwin F. Bowers, M.D., coined the name "zone therapy." Today, zone therapy may include the attachment of clothespins to fingertips and the use of pencils and aluminum combs.
